BIO

Bridy Crawford is and American artist based in New York City.  She began painting in oils at the age of 10.  After earning a degree in jewelry repair and design from Bowman’s Technical School she had a successful career as a bench jeweler, designer and model maker working with companies such as Movado and Tiffany & Co.  Craving the spontaneity of putting paint to canvas she went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from SUNY Empire State College in NYC.

Her inspiration comes from the melding of the urban and natural landscapes that surround her.  Listening to the work of Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck and Sonny Rollins also aid in her creative process.

Using acrylic paint and tools like chopsticks and her own fingers, she creates the forms and details that give her work its energy.  Although her style and manner of painting appear spontaneous, sometimes months go into planning a piece.  She rarely sketches a piece before it’s put to canvas.

Bridy’s work has been featured in Time Out NY, New York Daily News and Girl’s Life.  It is also in private collections throughout the United States and Europe.
